Currency Converter

Live exchange rates, converted instantly.

Convert between world currencies using live, daily-updated exchange rates.

How it works

Amounts are converted with reference exchange rates published by the European Central Bank, fetched through the free Frankfurter API. The rates update once per working day.

When it helps

Good for travel budgets, online shopping in another currency, or a quick sense of a price abroad.

Reference rates versus the rate you get

The rates shown are the European Central Bank's reference rates, published around 16:00 Central European Time on working days. They're mid-market rates — halfway between what banks pay to buy and sell a currency — so they're the fairest benchmark for comparing offers.

Exchange offices, banks and card providers usually give you a less favorable rate and may add fees. Comparing their rate with the reference rate shows how much you're really paying.

Practical tips

When paying by card abroad, choose to pay in the local currency. If a terminal offers to charge you in your home currency, it typically uses a worse rate, a practice known as dynamic currency conversion.

Because the rates update once per working day, weekend conversions use Friday's rates. For large transfers, check the live rate offered by your bank at the moment of the transaction.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my bank's rate different?

Banks and card providers add a margin and fees on top of the reference rate.

How often are rates updated?

Once per working day. They are reference rates, not live trading prices.

Which currencies are supported?
